After my ride yesterday I returned to the hotel just before noon and parked right in front of the hotel and locked the bike on the rack since it was only going to be a short time before checking out. After taking a shower and eating lunch I gathered up stuff to load the car and found the cable cut and bike stolen in about an hour or so. Not a way to end a great trip. Hopefully, the criminal will get caught and jailed. #mtbblog #mtbtrip #mountainbiketrip #lakewoodcoloradosucks
We started early in Moab with a ride 7 miles from our hotel. the trails were mixed with desert riding and Slickrock. The temperature was in the 80's by 8:30 and was 91 when we finished at 10:30. Time to move on to high elevation riding in Colorado. Interesting brown stripe to follow on the slick rock. After a 3 hour ride to Aspen, we settled in at the W which is a very nice Marriott property. Welcome champagne and tray of goodies. The hotel does not seem very crowded and ever
After a nice grab and go breakfast at the hotel we took a morning ride downtown checking out the local vibe. This is the state Capital building downtown Santa Fe. This is one of the many churches downtown. After a replenishment trip to Costco Albuquerque, we set forth to Flagstaff. Since they do not recognize daylight savings, we gained an hour. Heading out for another exploration ride on our bikes. Caution when you buy snacks and take them to high elevation they may explode.
Today was our first ride with our friends Mark and Heidi. We picked a good one with 20 miles and 3,300ft of climbing. The trail followed a creek a good portion of the trail. The climb was 10 miles with an average grade of 7%. But the descent was well worth all the effort. We made our contribution to the teepee. It was a tad chilly at the top before our downhill blast. The trails were in perfect shape. Everyone happy at the top at 10,300ft after climbing 3300ft. Time for the f
Today we rode the back 40 which was 32 miles with a little over 3,000ft of climbing. The trails were similar to yesterday a lot of flow and climbing with features mixed in. Rock formations today included many caves and ledges. In fact, one of the trails was called Ledges and in some spots, there were only a few inches to spare before plummeting off a cliff. Erin took the ebike today and was able to easily keep up and still get a good workout manhandling the 'beast'. Again we
So, todays ride was a little more chill with almost no hike a bike. Erin selected a great route along Cove creek which was very scenic and not super technical. Not all was rideable There is so much to do in the area. The hiking is endless. We saw canyoneering with folks rappelling down a waterfall Post-ride brewery stop at Oscar Blues We did visit nearby looking glass falls after the ride #travelblog #mtbblog #oscarblues #pisgah #lookingglassfalls #bonvoy #mountainbiketrip #m
